Some updates

I took a couple of days off and visited a small island at the border of Germany. I kept in touch with the Internet trough my mobile phone, something I've never tried before. But it worked pretty well. I'm back again with a lot of new ideas for this project and I hope I can present some of them in near future. Couple of phone calls are waiting...

Unfortunately it seems that the e-mail spammers have finally put my e-mail adresses into their distribution lists. Well, I sort of waited for that.

I also found at least one new website trying to sell seconds as this project does. That is really crazy. Copycat sites of my project. This audio thing seems to attract more and more people.

In the news again...

On Wednesday, The Million Seconds Homepage has been featured in the national german newspaper "Stuttgarter Zeitung". That's quite impressive! I got some nice feedback from the article and hope to give you some more information soon.

New audio files and more press coverage

It's unbelievable what's going on. There's a lot of media interest and during the last week I gave a couple of interviews. Even the first podcast stations start asking for a session. I really enjoy it and I want to encourage everybody to contact me and set up a date.

Some more seconds have been sold and it seems that we get a really interesting audio time capsule. I'd really love to see our laughing faces in a couple of years listening to these audio files. Maybe some of the talented uploaders are then discovered and in big business. The website stats reached again a new all time high and one of my customers reported new business contacts based on a huge amount of web traffic on his site coming from The Million Seconds Homepage.

Articles and stuff

There have been a couple of articles about The Million Seconds Homepage lately, so I updated the press section. Bayern3, a bavarian broadcast station even tagged me "best of internet".

More and more traffic

As the word is spreading and more and more people buying seconds, the traffic to my website also increases rapidly. This week I got an instant Pagerank from PR0 to PR5 from Google. That's not too bad for the beginning.

I worked all week mostly on marketing and it seems things pay off. Got another song today, completely different from anything else on my homepage, but has for sure its place on an audio time capsule who claims to represent one time the current life on earth.

More songs coming in

One song I got today is really funny. It's in german, telling a story about a swedish carrot cake. The guy even set up a whole internet site about it. It's no. 9 on the list with all audio files.

Site updates

I did a couple of site updates this week. The big one you may already have noticed is that you can now subscribe to my newsletter to be always informed what's going on here. I'll try not to write too much, maximum is one newsletter a week.

Another 340 seconds sold

The first author from Germany bought some seconds today and mailed me an audio file. It's quite interesting, how many different people are fascinated being part of this audio time capsule.

460 seconds sold and visiting my dentist

The word is spreading... Today, an audio file from Kansas City, USA, came in. I really enjoyed listening to the records.

I also visited a dentist today for a regular check. It's another dentist I usually go to, but she was very friendly and I lost some fear (not all!). But when she first came into the room, she asked me, if we know each other and I said no. I've never seen her before. I told her, that I've been also in the local newspaper last Monday and instantly she said that she read the article. The next ten minutes I had to explain the idea and we talked a little bit. She asked me, if I want to record the noise of the driller but I didn't felt to comfortable with this. Anyway, that was the best experience I ever had with a dentist!

Falling of my chair

I couldn't belive what I saw this morning. I thought I was still dreaming while opening the newspaper. There was an article about The Million Seconds Homepage that was the half of the size of the newspaper. And a big picture of me in the middle. I almost fell of my chair... There has been quite some coverage in the press, but never such a big article. I'm very impressed. You can find the article online here.

It didn't take long and the next radio station called in. More news about it later this week. But I'm still wondering, if the existing 820 seconds will be the final number I sold or if I can sell a little bit more. Maybe one day, Big Company Inc. will stop by and get a big chunk. It would be a great deal, there's more and more traffic on my page and not too many pixels taken on the main page. Come on, go get some seconds, some pixels and set a link to your homepage...

Visit from the press

Today, the first press representatives visited me at home. They were from the "Braunschweiger Zeitung", a big regional newspaper. This was quite fun, the journalist even came with an extra photographer. We talked a lot, he was very interested. The article will be published early next week and I hope they also put it online so I can provide you a link.

This week has been pretty busy. I called some more people and got some great new contacts. I like talking to people a lot and got some interesting new ideas. So stay tuned... And please feel free to mail me your suggestions and questions.

Press and server

The last couple of days have been pretty busy with talking to some people from newspapers and magazines and I also gave a couple of interviews for radio stations. One station has sent me the interview and allowed me to put it online. You can find the audio file on the press page, listed at STAR FM.

I decided to also get a server upgrade next week to handle the increasing traffic. No more seconds sold for now, but I heard from two guys who wanted to upload some files next week. It's a great feeling to be one of the first to listen to some crazy stuff... I'm also waiting for a couple of arcticles being published this weekend and a big one on Wednesday.

Press release and site updates

Today, I've published the press release and got to talk to some news representatives. That was quite interesting and I'm looking forward what's going on the next few days. Tomorrow, I will also give my first radio interview and I'm pretty curious abou it.

Sold! 100 seconds

Another 100 seconds sold. The click counter has some interesting news too. In average, each link on the homepage gets about 50 clicks per day. That's pretty good for the beginning and I think it will probably go up this week. The voting system for the audio files is also doing well, I have to think about some ideas, maybe I could start a contest or something similar and feature the best files somehow.

I wrote a press release the last weekend and I will release the text these days. Fingers crossed, I hope to get some feedback.

320 seconds sold

Here we go again. Someone bought 320 seconds today and uploaded his own song. This guy told me, that he really enjoys the idea of the audio time capsule and wants to support it this way. Thanks for your help!

I also enhanced the site a little bit. You can now calculate easily the price for your audio material and a click counter for clicks to your homepage has been added. You can now also vote for audio material on the audio files page.

First seconds sold

I'm very proud to announce the selling of 420 seconds today. Wow. And there are still some people who want to send me a file this week. I'm impressed, really! This is a warm welcome.

I also got to know some great folks out there the last few days and I would like to thank them all for trying to help me to build this audio internet time capsule. We'll see how far we're sailing...

First impressions

Puh, I never wrote that many e-mails before and I don't want to think about my next phone bill. But hey, it's fun, I talked to a lot of people and I got quite some feedback.

No seconds sold yet, but I'm in contact with some people who were really interested and I hope you can listen to what they have in mind next week. It takes longer to create an audio file than just creating an image.

Who's the first going to the buffet? I hope it's not that hard for you to be the first on my site, because if you are the first your audio track would be repeated over and aver again in the audio stream. You could also own the first pixel space on the main page, probably a lot of people would click on it and get redirected to your homepage. For the details, please have a look at my FAQ.

The Million Seconds Homepage is launched

Finally I see the results of quite some work. I had been thinking about this idea for a couple of weeks but refined it again and again.

The idea is simple. My first goal with this site is to create a little time capsule with audio files provided and made by you. My intention is, that these files reflect the life on earth up to now. You can for example record current feelings, your own lyrics, advertisements, your own music, wishes, stories, jokes, imitations, historical records, results of sport events, interviews, sounds of nature, ordinary noises, greetings, ideas, annotations, anecdotes and so forth in any language you want. You could also use effects to change your voice. It's up to your imagination.

You will then be able to upload the audio on my homepage and I will stream it to the internet, over and over again. You can also upload an image and link to your homepage. The second goal for this site is to make one million dollar by selling one million seconds of space for audio material to you, each second for one dollar. As a side effect, I would be the first millionaire in my family. Well, it would be also o.k. to just have some extra bucks...

Primarily, this idea sounds very crazy, but it has to be that crazy to have a chance to work. People like crazy ideas and funny inventions and they will hopefully get attracted by my idea. You will find more information in my FAQ.

So I designed and coded all week long, wrote my ideas down, got the domain name registered and planned a little bit. Just look around what's going on and don't hesitate to buy some seconds.
